Purpose: Reception of rail ferries of Mukran-103 and Rider types, car ferries and Ro-Ro ships.
GT Morstroy has built four of the seven sections of the ferry pier, the most remote from the shore. Each 36 m long section is an overpass on steel piles of 1420 mm diameter and 14-16 mm wall thickness with monolithic reinforced concrete upper structure.
This project was challenging as works were carried out from the water in winter conditions. We should also note that in the practice of hydraulic engineering in this region piles longer than 60 meters were driven for the first time to ensure reliability of the pile foundation in weak clay soils.
Pile driving was performed in two stages: on the first stage, a vibratory driver was used, and additional driving to the design level was performed by diesel-hammer.
Despite the above and the fact that concreting of the upper structure with a total volume of more than three thousand cubic meters was made in winter conditions at significant negative ambient temperatures, we managed to complete this work in less than 1 year thanks to modern construction machinery and equipment, as well as competent engineering training before the works start.
