The work purpose was to increase the depth of the navigable canal to the Port Vysotsk (34 km), as well as the creation of an approach channel, maneuvering and operating waters of the LUKOIL-M distribution and transshipment facility terminal.

From September 2003 to July 2005, GT Morstroy performed dredging operations on the water areas and the navigable route to the LUKOIL-M distribution and transshipment facility.

During this period work was completed on the following objects:

  • Navigable waterway;
  • Quay for harbor vessels;
  • Quay No.3;
  • Operational water area;
  • Maneuvering water area;
  • Approach canal.

The total volume of work amounted to about 1.25 million m3, including about 46 thousand m3 of rock, subject to loosening by explosions.

Features of the executed works:

The work was carried out in three stages: The first stage was from September to December 2003, the second stage was from June 2004 to January 2005, and the third stage was from April to July 2005.

At the first stage during 3>5 months, dredging operations were carried out on the approach canal, maneuvering and operational water areas of the port under construction, providing a design depth of 14.5 m.

At the second stage, the main task was to expand and deep the navigable path to the terminal on a section of more than 30 km in length.

At the third stage, the depth in the water areas and the approach canal was increased to elevation of minus 15.4 m.

The main scope of the work was done by a self-hauling bilge dredger developing soft soils.

The rock development was conducted by loosening with underwater explosions.

From the drilling platform wells were drilled, charges of explosives were charged and explosions were carried out directly.

Unlike traditional methods, the laying of charges under the water was done without attracting divers, according to the Swedish technology.

The exploded rock and dense pre-rock was gathered by two rod dredgers with a backhoe.

Our company offered the Customer a comprehensive solution of the task, starting from the design stage up to the commissioning of the object of the State Commission.

The project implementation required us to establish a clear cooperation with all participants, from the construction Customer to numerous state control organizations, for the successful implementation of a unique project in such a short time.

GT Morstroy managed to do all the work in time and without stopping the construction and operation of the port berthing facilities, ensuring the safety of all the works performed.
